DISPARITY PART THREE. (16/07/15)

The other day one of my more observant readers noticed that I’d lost the plot a little and wasn’t posting enough diverse images. I’ll put that right today.

This morning I decided as it was dry and cool to walk the other way through the wood and take a 50mm lens with me. Here are some of the views I snapped.

I bet a pound to a shilling that you suspect that I don’t know what they are, well for once I do. From left to right we have Foxglove, Lady’s Bedstraw and a Vetch, a yellow Vetch.

We wandered on our way which sometimes was thin and other times fat.

We then got to the last bit of uphill and I had a lie down to get my breath back, sorry, I mean to take a snap of another foxglove.

A month ago I could hop over the wall here and save the big circular wander round the edge of the forest but the barley is too tall now and I don’t want to flatten it.

After breakfast I went to check on the Puss Moth larva and bless my soul it had turned into larvae. One is a bit smaller than the other and neither have yet got the big red ring around their face.

I also found a few flies.

Or several of the same fly. It’s a Sawfly; Tenthredo notha. How the hell the proper macro photographers find insects that aren’t hiding or covered in pollen I don’t know but it is something I intend to find out.

That’s all for today. I have some more stuff to edit and try to identify.

  1. Now today I was glad you took that walk as these country scenes are so beautiful. Loved the greeness, the hills, the trees and paths through the forest and the iful wildflowers.

    1. Margaret it's the first dry morning for ages. I walk the woods most days but usually take a macro lens that won't focus to infinite.

  4. Be careful when you walk 'the other way' Adrian, you'll set people talking! It looks like a nice (bug friendly) place to walk...whichever style you choose to walk it in?

You missed out the name of the little pink flower in the bottom left corner!

That's good news..now you've got two larvae to keep your eye on.

You mean to say that a photographer of your colieber and you haven't got a 'stylist' to get those bugs sorted for you?...[;o)

    1. Trevor, I'm fine now I found the Vaseline.
Yes, i did I was going to clone it out. I cropped to avoid one of the umbrel flowers as I didn't want to appear thick by calling it a little hogweed.
Yes, I don't know where the other came from, they look much the same age.
The more I look at macro images the more I'm convinced many of the subjects are dead and posed. I'm surprised that I can't see the pin but expect they use superglue these days.

  10. The view from both the gate into the valley and of the farm looks spectacular as does the wooded section, I could spend hours exploring the area by the looks of the images.
I'm fascinated by the development of the Puss Moth it's great to see it slowly transform

Such amazing close-ups of the bug world....thanks goodness they are small creatures, because seeing something huge with those characteristics would be formidable ;)
