PEEK-A-BOO. (25/07/15)

I thought I’d show you a little map of a walk we often do. It’s not far and takes a couple of hours with stops for pictures and waiting for the dogs to return from deer exercising. This morning I decided to take the 100mm macro lens as it’s a while since I have given you a look at the countryside.

I have semi-settled here. It is hilly but the hills aren’t too arduous and walks take from an hour to about four hours. I am seriously thinking of lugging a tripod, a couple of lenses, the sound recorder, making a day of it and shooting a few hours of video. I think a five minute film would be worth doing.

I don’t know why yesterdays post posted twice. It’s never done that before. I’ll see what happens to this one.

  1. I had been thinking for a while that you had seemed to have "settled". The cider must be good huh? You haven't really said what the attraction is ~ that you haven't moved on again. As long as you are happy. The pups wading along in the puddle on the side of the road ~ umm what is that all about?

    1. Carol, I just feel fine here. I wouldn't want to spend the winter but I've another month before I have to decide where to go. They are back from deer chasing and thirsty.

  2. I am already looking forward to the new blockbuster - "Heart of Fife" starring Alf and Molly as The Mucky Pups and Captain Adrian Ward (not sure this is the right surname) as David Attenborough.

    1. YP, I would like to do a half decent video. It is a lot of work how these folk go on doing it full time I don't know. I'll practise whispering for my David Attenborough commentary. Yes you have the right surname.

  4. Looks like a pair-of-dice there. I'm envious. I always carry my tripod. I just don't have a steady enough hand otherwise. My three pups would have joined Alf and Mol in that puddle. My piddy would have been rolling for joy...the blockhead.

    1. R.Mac, I only use tripods when absolutely essential or for high resolution images.
The dogs usually head for water, the dirtier the better.

    1. Peter, I will do one, it is just a matter of getting enough material together.

  8. I can see why you are semi settled. A great variety of scenes and habitats plus the necessary muddy areas for the pooches to wallow in.

    1. John, the dogs love it, the only downside is the Ticks. Frontline seems to keep them under reasonable control.

  10. Glad you put a map on to support the images Adrian. It's given me an idea of how to rid my maps of squiggly lubes :-) Alf and Molly look as always to be having a blast

    1. Douglas, the dogs are getting over confident. They think they know where they are so please themselves where they go.
I use Snagit for screen grabs. It isn't free but I have used it for years and they still upgrade for nothing every now and again.

  12. Beautiful countryside, it does look a nice place to linger. Did you see what took the dogs interest in the long grass? They have the best life, those two!

    1. Pauline, they were having a drink in a drain at the side of the road. It's thirsty work annoying deer.

  13. I am SO glad you took that camea out with yuo today becasue i have really missed your wonderful landscape images. I can see why you would like to stay in this area a bit longer, at least until the very cold weather kicks in. Love the shot of the dogs in the muddy puddle. I was so tired of seeing bugs up close and personal although very clever of you to do it. ANyway, I think making a video would be wonderful. Eat your heart out David Attenborough!! Have a great week ahead.

    1. Margaret, you will have to stop visiting if you want to avoid being tired. It will be a couple of months before the insects hibernate or die.
