THE FLOWERS OF THE FOREST (31/08/10)

The flowers of the forest is stretching things a little. the flowers of the disused railway is more the reality. It’s as well I owned up as we got sidetracked. not an uncommon experience on a railway line. I was first distracted by this pretty little bridge.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA     Next by The Angel of the North…………………………

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA    After that I got back on track unfortunately the dogs had other ideas, they decided to chat to a pony…………

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAA friendly soul, lonely on it’s own so even a couple of dogs are worth passing the time of day with.

On to the mission no more diversions.

The first is Willowherb and the second is Knapweed, I must admit I thought they were red.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA    Oxeye Daisy…….probably safer to stick to daisy.

Now it’s wait and see time. I wonder how many I got right? One or two would be a result.

  1. Pity the graffiti 'artists' got to the pretty little bridge before you. Am I the only one who finds the angel incongruous? For me the wings are far too long and too angular but it does stand out!

Pretty flowers - I'll take your word for the identifications as I am more useless with flowers than I am with bird identification.

  3. John, was thinking of getting some more shots in better light. Were they any good then the graffiti could be cloned out.
You will not be alone in thinking the Angel is just a touch off. Opinion locally seems to be in favour but not by much. I think it grand and like it better close up.

Petrus thanks, flowers are easy pity I am never 100% sure what to call them.

Flowers are named pretty much right I think; I reckon the last one is Common Mallow.

  10. That bindweed looks a lot like what we call wild morning glory over here. It's terrible on a garden but makes a good photo. Great close-ups of the flowers.

  11. Jolynne, it will be the same stuff, it's hard to eradicate from gardens, snip it off close to the ground.
