Tomorrow I will be sixty two years old. Of course by the time you read this I sincerely hope I will be enjoying my sixty third year. I always date the titles of my posts. This has two purposes, the first enables both me and you to keep track when I’m away from the internet. The second, a bonus really, is that every title is unique.
I moved from the east to the west yesterday, a horrible foggy day accompanied me from the Pennine watershed. Today is dull and grey but I had a wander around Blawith Fell. No good views but a few big scenes…… on to the photographs.
Blawith Fell. This will enlarge with a click and is the view from the van. It is a large stitched panorama 18k pixels wide on it’s long side. Don’t panic I compressed it.
There are lots of these little meres or ponds. They are wet, full of weed and a few yards across. There is little more to say about them.
The bottom of Coniston Water and the beginning of the wonderfully named River Crake. this is a hop skip and a jump from the van.
I crossed the road and climbed the hill onto the fell.
Coniston Water. If you look carefully you will see the camper just above my signature. The Old Man of Coniston is in the cloud on the far left. The green bit is Torver Back Common.
Coniston Water. The tiny mere in the first image is just above the road to the right of the image.
Bethecar Moor with Brock Barrow on the right and Coniston Water.
I had a good walk to celebrate the last day of my sixty second year. A bit murky was the weather but it did allow me free rein to play with the images.
I’ll get this posted as soon as possible, in the meantime enjoy yourselves.
The Coniston Water images take me back a very long time - though not 62 years! You're still a youngster really aren't you!
ReplyDeleteOops sorry. I forgot. Happy Sixty Third Year!
ReplyDeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU for tomorrow in case you don't publish! I will not sing as it might bring the rain! :)You are lucky you were not born on Feb29!!
ReplyDeleteWe had a very cloudy day to start with down here and now we have a glorious sunshine!
Best wishes Adrian! DeeBee
Many Happy Returns Adrian. All the best people have their birthday in March lol. Lovely scenery as always.
ReplyDeleteThe clouds and winter colors add a lot of texture to these. I like Coniston Water.
ReplyDeleteA stunning set of images Adrian. You've picked a beautiful spot in which to spend your Birthday. Many happy returns and I hope you have/had a great day...[;o)
ReplyDeleteExcellent images. A very Happy Birthday to you, Adrian!!! xoxoxo Ruby
ReplyDeleteAdrian, I like the HDR on the Coniston images. Are you using Photomatix? What settings do you use?
ReplyDeleteGeorge, yes Photomatix 4.0.1. Settings vary. I'll do a seeing to with screen grabs and try and point out how to avoid haloing. I always give them a polish in Photoshop.
DeleteOh! And a very happy birthday!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots for your birthday.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a lovely time.
Happy Birthday! Hope you've had a good day.
ReplyDeleteGreetings and best wishes Adrian, your forth picture reminds me of Tolkein

Happy Birthday, Adrian. Great photos of the area. It sure looks like a great area to explore. Have a great birthday my friend.
ReplyDeleteMany happy returns Adrian... I hope it's been a great day..
ReplyDeleteLovely images and brings back some wonderful memories for me.. I walked from Ulverston to Keswick over three days in 2003 and passed this way..
Happy birthday Adrian! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots of a scenic area.
Multitudinous felicitations on the anniversary of your natal day! Your as old as me now but I'll get ahead again in a few months...
ReplyDeleteHowever - even a birthday is not going to stop me from admonishing you. How dare you refer to a tarn as a mere or pool. That's what comes of letting foreigners wander over the fells.
These are Meres in this tiny local. Or so it says on the National Trust info board. All the best.
DeleteOops, there I am admonishing you and I go and write 'your' instead of 'you're' - consider me suitably humbled.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Adrian and that good birthday surprise, a walk in the coutryside.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Adrian! Love the moody skies in these images today, the panorama is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a very Happy Birthday as you travel where you please :) Beautiful photos to celebrate a new year in the making. Old Man Coniston knows you're just a young 'un ;)
ReplyDeleteWonderful set of landscapes. Especially like the Coniston Water one. The second one with the reflection looked a little like a giant lizard to me (perhaps it's a lake monster?)
ReplyDeleteThank you one and all.
