GLOOMY ROCKS. (19/06/14)

A rather damp walk this morning. I thought I had judged the gaps in the showers to perfection. How wrong could I be we got to the far end of the beach and down came the rain.

Now I have to sort a lens out for time lapse. I think I’ve found an old 28mm FD lens for £35.00p. I’ll have to get an adapter for it which will no doubt cost the same again. I’m hoping it will stop the flickering which I think is caused by slight variations in aperture when using EF lenses. Time will tell.

Have a good day.

    1. Keith, it is one of the best. The next couple of inlets east are very dramatic. I'll spend today taming Blackheaded Gulls. I had one tapping on the skylight yesterday but the camera focussed on the glazing. Little tinkers they are.

  2. Looks good there Adrian, even when it's gloomy and wet. Good news that you've located a lens...[;o)

    1. Trevor, I like it here. Visibility was surprisingly good.
The lens was a snip, at £35.00p. The adapter was a bit steep at £45.00p but it does have a lens in so I can focus to infinity. It comes from near you. SRB Griturn. A good company for special mounts and bits and pieces. If you are ever in Dunstable it would be interesting to see how much you end up spending in their emporium.

    2. Adrian, it's a small world! I've heard of SRB (for filters) but I never knew their premises were so close to me, about six miles from home. I regularly drive past the entrance to the farm estate they're on on my way to my local walking areas, in fact I can look down on the farm premises as I walk in the hills behind!...I think I'll leave my wallet at home if I pay them a visit!...[;o)

    3. Trevor I've used them for odd bits of things for years. I seem to remember them moving in the not too distant past. They do a good range of flash brackets at sensible money.

    1. Frances, I shot a roll of film in medium format. It will be interesting to see what it turns out like in Black and White.
I've been up since three so I can feel a siesta coming on.
I like silly light but all in all it has been an expensive morning.

  4. Can't tell you how I love your shots of the north of Scotland and the Western Isles, the flowers, the machair, the rocks, the sea, and your time lapse of the stars was brilliant!. The place fascinates me, and the light, that amazing light in the north! Your dogs add life, your comments colour. Thank you for sharing the work. McGregor

  5. Hi Adrian I love see the rock, sand and sea in shots probably because I love being near these elements in nature myself. Have a great day and good news that you got a good price for the lens

    1. Margaret, it is good no matter what the weather.
It was cheap enough but then there is little demand for old manual lenses.

    1. Carol, had I had the foresight to take shower gel then I could have had a wash. It is warm enough at the moment.

  8. Apart from the fact that we have avoided the rain this morning I could almost be up at Garry Sands, North Tolsta.

    1. Graham, it keeps raining very fine rain for ten minutes or so. I am praying for some clear skies next week but it isn't looking too good.

  9. I like these beach shots. I was luckier than you with the rain today, it started raining five minutes after I got back from my morning errands.

    1. Jay, it is an amazing lens. it will focus from a few feet to infinite. It's much better than the Zeiss 24mm.
