PLOUGH THE MOVIE. (O9/03/16)

I am starting to enjoy video but I'm still a long way from getting it right. I would have liked the shattered title to cast a shadow but failed. I would have been better pleased if I hadn't had to do it twice as it wasn't until I had it all popped together that I noticed the 'G' and the 'U' were the wrong way round. How the professionals edit so quickly is beyond me, they must be super people; I'll try wearing my pants outside my trousers. There is so much to remember. I record sound separately as it always seems to get out of sync but I have found that the VSE in Blender keeps it synchronised perfectly. The only problem being that if I get a nasty word during the sound recording I have to cut it and then find another bit of sound to put in.
I did see a great title on the Daily Politics Show. It has a Steam Punk theme and I am very impressed. The only problem is it would take me a hundred hours to do it or anything approaching it.
Here is the video, it's as good as I have managed but I'll keep trying.
Have fun.

    1. Richard, they are a devil to set up. This one is running on the skew but no matter how the knives or coulters are adjusted it keeps doing it.
I learned to keep out of the way as ploughmen tend to watch the plough and not where they are going.

  5. Excellent video Adrian, it's good to sit back and watch somebody else doing the work.
My only criticism is that I would like to hear more of the tractor noise instead of the music, sorry...[;o)

    1. I didn't have as much tractor sound as I would have liked as the battery died in the recorder, It's difficult to judge all the variables on my own. I'll get more machine noise and some chat next time. I did try before but the interviewees are very taciturn and when they aren't they use unacceptable adjectives.

  6. excellent video although I agree with Trevor and would have preferred the tractor noice rather than the music.

    1. Margaret, I agree plenty of room for improvement but hopefully they will improve. This is full 1080 but I'll not go higher than 720 in the future. Not unless I get a 4K camera and a machine to handle the file sizes.

  8. I admire you for taking on new challenges-- Especially ones which require as much detail and effort. By the way, I can only imagine some of those adjectives! Well done.

    1. Bill, it's the software that really interests me. I'm not artistic enough to produce a proper film. The language is neither informative or relative when they see the microphone coming.

  9. I'm wondering about the sound, did you place a microphone on the tractor? It's very clear

    1. Douglas, it is a ZOOM H1 recorder the cheapest they do I record in WAV and then pop it into AUDACITY to edit it and whatnot. I'll do some birds tweeting and see what you think. They are about £70.00p. I have had it two or three years and although it is very plasticky it has been fine. It is best if you can get a clean recording but if yo have a constant noise like distant traffic Audacity can remove that with no bother.

  10. Your film is certainly aptly titled, but I fear it will never win the Palme d'Or at Cannes. While the cinematography is lovely, the film could use a little more dialogue, significant character interaction is lacking, and the plot definitely needs work.

    1. Bob, that's what I thought.......I think.
It is not a one person job and nor is it a one day job.
I am not sure what the answer is but I would like to do a better job.

    1. John, as I was putting it together I thought so but when I looked at the final result I wasn't happy. I have spoken to a couple of camera folk and their advice was just do as the director says or shoot wide and then shoot detail and let the editors sort it.

  15. Well I didn't think I'd be watching a film like that on ploughing from start to finish absolutely rapt. It was soothingly therapeutic. The choice of music was inspired.

    1. Graham, the music is from FMA, most is free if you credit it. It takes some searching to find a reasonable recording with acceptable content.
