A BEAUTIFUL BIRD.

Over the last couple of weeks I have been enjoying watching a fit bird chasing other fit birds. She catches the occasional Tit. I must have fired off fifty shots trying to catch her in the act, that's over two rolls of film in old money. I've always been a hopeless birder but have managed a snap of it sitting on a power pole.
This is the culprit, a female Kestrel, males have a grey head. I wish I could get a picture of her doing something interesting.

That's all for today.

  1. Beautiful kestrel. What's Brexit? Some new Covid variant?

    1. Graham, she is gorgeous and seems to arrive most days around 3.30pm and hangs about for an hour or so.
Brexit was a dream that has sadly never really materialised, a bit like the millions forecast to die from Covid. I can see how the two could become conflated.

  2. That is a particularly good Andrew Lawrence which I should publish on my blog, it would cause a kerfuffle.

I was looking at a Kestrel this afternoon. It is good to see them in flight.

    1. Folk will be clutching their pearls and fainting.
They are too fast for me to snap in flight.
A damp start here but if it brightens up I'll pop out for an imaginary conversation with some folk I didn't meet.

  3. Hi Adrian, Graham could tell you about how long we sat in the car waiting for a kestrel to return to her roadkill - and still didn't get a good shot. I think they are wonderful to watch.

  4. Always something majestic about the appearance of the smaller raptors. Never seen a Kestrel and was thinking it was a long time since a Sparrow Hawk visited the garden when one appeared this morning.
