DEPRESSING. (03/10/12)

I’m not getting any pictures worth having. The weather is sunshine and showers. The sun shines as I wait to go out and it showers as soon as I get out. This is a bit depressing but not as depressing as stopping in and listening to the drivel emanating from the various political party conferences. As you have come to expect I do have an opinion on Ed Milliband’s performance……You’ll have to wait a while, I’ll get the pictures out of the way first.

PA014163_-copy_tonemapped_edited-1This weeks Market Hall picture……for a change and for the worse I decided to take it’s reflection…..Not a howling success as you will no doubt confirm.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThis Hawthorn is the exception….It is full of berries. I hope the birds find and enjoy it as I suspect the poor fruiting season will make life awkward for them this winter.

PA024182_3_4_5_6_tonemapped_edited-1 Dusk last night.

Yesterday afternoon Ed Moribund the leader of the opposition addressed the Labour party conference. Among the more notable points he made were the intention to have a baccalaureate in trades like plumbing…..daft sod! We already have them. They are called BAs in fluid dynamics. Then we got One Nation, One Nation, One Nation. He then gave the lie to this by slagging into Dithery Dave…..I can only assume that he believes in One Nation so far as those in his one nation agree with him. The fact that the majority of decisions affecting us are made in Brussels, the Welsh, Scots and Northern Irish already have their own parliaments must have escaped his notice. Understandable, he has much on his mind!

One Nation is an anagram of No Etonian.

This morning I woke to the news that Dithery has made a complete mess of awarding rail franchises. This means that we either have no West coast service or we pay through the nose for it. They are also going to have to compensate the bidders for government incompetence. I dread to think what the cost will be. I do know that it will be nothing to do with Dithery. It may come home to roost on Patrick McLaughlin, he should be okay as he has only just been put in charge. It’ll be those incompetent civil servants……I just heard he has suspended three of them. He is in charge or would like us to think he is. Lucky them, they could be on full pay and gardening leave for years. Looking at this showers track record they could be suspended till their retirement if they keep a low profile.

Enjoy the rest of your week.

  1. I like that last photo with the water reflection, although I suspect that's not usually a pond but supposed to be a field... right? I'll stay out of the British politics, it's more than enough for me trying to keep up with our own... The weather we seem pretty much to be sharing, though!

    1. Monica, it's bigger than usual but is always very wet just there.

  2. I like the reflection, the hawthorn and the field at dusk. I suspect the birds will enjoy the hawthorn. I'll stay out of your politics, things are just as bad over my side of the pond.

    1. Gillian, thanks....I suspect politicians have always been greedy and incompetent.

  3. The pictures look sinister. I realise I've organised my life badly. I should have been a civil servant and got something wrong. Would I really have been paid to keep out of the way? I'm hoping someone will save the National Health Service. I'm hoping no-one will make such a mess of Housing Benefit people will loose their homes. I'm realising all sorts of things I think are good and honourable and bind us together as a nation - that some people will happily set them aside rather than improve them.

Who first thought of calling everything baccalaureate?

    1. Yes you would be paid to keep quiet. Whilst a civil servant one has to.
Welfare now benefits the wealthy and not the poor.
Michael Gove pinched the term from the French.

  5. I swear the world is falling apart sometimes. Your pics are great. You're too hard on yourself:) But my parting thought about things is, "Where are those singular leaders who can make that change?" It doesn't matter what country you're in.....it's the same shit; different pile. But your pics take the edge off of frustration:)

    1. Chris, they don't exist. They are all self serving.

  6. Politicians and their devious behavior annoy me but I am more annoyed (incensed ) with business and how with a straight face they rip us off. Business has some responsibility in this equation.

    1. Business is business. We should be paying politicians to manage them.

  7. I almost wish I understood what that rant was all about but on second thoughts I'm probably happier in my ignorance. I once heard of a politician who was lower than a puddle - an insult to a puddle, especially if it looks as good as yours.
