CASTLES IN THE AIR. (13/04/13)

I have done a very stupid thing. I have purchased a full version of Photoshop CS6. Can I work it? Can I hell as like!

I blame Margaret Thatcher….but that is unfair……I spend a small fortune on lenses and bits so it seemed daft not to spend this week learning proper Photoshop….It’s going to take years not weeks. I wish I’d never started, I am up all hours of the day and night trying to make it do what I want.

Margaret is dead and I really haven’t had any interest in her since she was booted out of office. I just can’t stand buying papers that Ignore missiles in Korea and put out endless fiction about a Prime Minister who, though good for one term, was then useless.  I just pray that the youth of today accept the State Funeral because if they don’t then normal working people will get hurt. Let us hope it a cold rainy day.

I wonder who decided on a State Funeral? I just hope it wasn’t Dithery Dave…..Poor old lass will be left for the crows when he changes his mind.

On To The Castles.

IMG_0106_7_8_tonemapped

IMG_0112_3_4_tonemapped   The castle or the ruins there of. Snapped this morning and processed to my current skill level. I did manage to get them from PS Bridge to the RAW converter, through the editor and back to Bridge and into this Blog…..Come on give me a little clap…..I meant a round of applause. I can only imagine what you are thinking but I do not like ladies carrying STDs.

I have a few head shots from last week.

_V0G6144_edited-1    I hope this is a Fish Eagle. it wasn’t overjoyed to see me but it didn’t matter as it doesn’t eat people and there are bars between me and it.

_V0G6149_edited-1    This is a turkey Vulture….I just wanted it to be a she because it is so pretty. It’s a him. She was sitting on eggs. I can’t imagine a bloke doing that.

_V0G6130_edited-1  No idea what he is but I include him as a feather on the netting is casting on his chest. it could be a she for all I know. I suspect it is, it has an attitude problem. As a male chauvinist pig I decide it was PMT.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

  2. Good luck with CS6. I wouldn't have the patience.
The castle shots are excellent Adrian, and so are the birds.
I think the last one is a Bald Eagle. Pretty sure the visitors from over the pond will let us know one way or the other.

As for the iron bitch, I'll not comment further than a question. Why a state funeral?

    1. Keith, I like Elements but I was getting tired of working around it's limitations. I'm now just tired.

      Bald eagle... thanks again.

The State Funeral is because no one can find her ill gotten gains. I just hope they put a good heavy slab on top of her.

  3. Yup, a bald eagle, for sure. Unless it was its just gender you were pondering, in which case, I have no idea. Lovely shots though.. each and every one of them.

  6. At least all the print and air time given over to Maggie's death and funeral has, to some degree, stopped the media from winding themselves, and us, up with the prospect that someday soon a fat little Korean chap is about to press the button and vaporise the world!! I guess after successes in Iraq and Afghanistan we'll be in need of another war to prove that we can save the world and stave off the mass destruction!

Excellent images of the ruined castle (with no name!!) I really like the image of the Turkey Vulture giving the evil eye! The last one looks like a Bald Eagle.

Good luck with PS6, lots to get your head around there! I guess you'll find it akin to having a ginormous tool box where some tools will get used daily and become old friends while others will stay shiny and very rarely used and then there will be the ones that you'll find lurking at the back that you'll never ever have a use for or even know why they're there!! Have fun...[;o)

    1. It's just called the castle...It's at Sheriff Hutton Trevor.

She could cause a war from her grave....If politicians had to do the fighting they would think twice.

PS is a magical box of tricks....I just can't work it out but I will. The crop tool is just superb and straightened up the castle quick sticks. I'll even get to love Bridge...hopefully before I die.

    1. John, Bridge is a fancy organiser and file manager that comes with PS. It is good....I've yet to find a file format that it can't display.

  9. Hi Adrian, what may help you a little is the keyboard shortcuts for Photoshop CS6, you just have to Google them and then download and print them. They are free, also you can search for free Tutorials that can help you on how to use Photoshop CS6. There is one site that I really liked to use and it's called PLANET PHOTOSHOP. Have a look you may like to use them.

    1. Horst, I already know lots of shortcuts from PS Elements. I have been watching hours of tutorials but will have a look at PLANET. Thank you.

  10. That last one is a fine specimen of bald eagle. I'm not a bird expert but it is our national symbol, so I'm pretty sure.

    You're gonna love Photoshop.

  13. HI Adrian...If you keep buying all this equipment your going to have to have more living quarters!!
Those ruins are some great shots, I wonder if some parts keep falling away!! Haha I haven't heard the the word clap in a very long time used in that way, I guess that means we are getting old ! So I "applaud you"!!
The second bird is a a winner...looks like it is coming right out of the page, clear as a bell "Nice"!!
The last is a Bald Eagle!! The male and female look the same in color, but the female is slightly larger, so it could be either!!
Now ain't I just to "smucking-fart" :)) did you figure that out!!

The only thing left to buy is a wide prime lens. I'm waiting for a used one to turn up.

      Yes I worked it out.

    1. Jay, I was supposed to return last week. It was too windy to get the birds out for close ups. Captive big birds struggle in wind or so I'm told. The area is worth a visit.
