MEUM CEREBRUM EST NUNC INTEGER ENIM FIRMITER. (03/04/13)

Bang the title into Google translate if you are not a Latin scholar……I’m not. I am just a little obsessive….Okay anally retentive….Nerdy….Mad.  Take your pick.

I’m aiming for the stars but so far have only found the planets.

IMG_9956_stitch_edited-5  This is as good as I could get using a bodge job on the tripod head. I have a job next week that requires a 360 x180 panorama. This was stitched in ICE. A Microsoft freeby It is brilliant. Thank you MARK you came up trumps yet again.

ICE , it maybe a first for Microsoft does exactly what they say it does and in my short acquaintance with it it does it better than ADOBE. ADOBE are a pain but given the power of their editing software they are usually hard to beat. This programme stitched this in the blink of my eye from twenty five images. Yes they were low res. JPEGs but the final image preview was 135+ a bit MBs the final TIFF image was way topside of 500MBs. Has Bill Gates lost the plot? Giving stuff this good away. Man must have debentures or whatever the senile version is.

I know I’m boring you witless but you try being retired. It’s either writing this, going to the pub or drooling in an unbecoming manner over the lass opposite my van. Eyes bigger than my whatsit I have.

I then banged this image into PS Elements 9 and used the Flexify plug in.

ravi3 No streaking in the clouds or twigs……I’m getting there…..I still have a way to go so hopefully I’ll not be turning my toes up anytime soon.

After the flak I took yesterday all I’ll tell you unless you ask is that these were shot on Aperture Priority and manual focus. I think I’ve sussed the software…Now for the hardware. I can’t take a zenith shot. That is the one pointing straight up. Nor a nadir, the one pointing straight down. The Nadir is not critical……..YET!!

I vowed to give up the whacky baccy and Pink Floyd. These are the next best thing for me.

Bye for now.

    1. Hopefully with no spin Annie. The twirly bits are the hardest to get rid of. Impossible they are. I aim for a perfect freeze.

  4. Cracking first image Adrian.

Your skill is yet to find its Zenith, but don't get into a swirl, stay cool, take some Adobe Elements and mix in a little Ice then add some Flexify's(!)...the result is sure to bring you to a greater Planet..and your brain will get stronger...but hold on, take it one step at a time...you don't want to fall into a state of total Nadir!!...[;o)

    1. Norma, you don't want to know. Google translate doesn't handle upper case letters very well.

  7. Bugger. I hate losing a comment. I had a go with my fairly sketchy Latin at the individual words but couldn't get them to form into something which conveyed a reasonable meaning. So I succumbed to Google Translate which, frankly, was no cleverer than I was. I think I may have just about got the message though.

As for ICE I'm sad to say this is one of the disadvantages of a Mac without running a great deal of extra software to replicate Windows.

    1. Graham, my Latin is awful. I was trying to say...'My head is embedded in my arse.'

I have had a fair bit of bother with ICE today. It is bloody fast though.

    1. It's an excellent basic stitcher. More than basic to be fair but there is little manual control.

    1. Red PS Elements can do them up to a point the Flexify plug in is much better though.

  11. Those last shots look like something from The Little Prince. I'll have to check out that Microsoft freebee--I hope it works better than Word, Have a good rest of your week!

    1. JoLynne, New Word is a mystery to me. This works well but there are few instructions. I had the devil of a job with it this morning.

  12. This is wild Adrian, I feel like I'm gradually fading away from earth. This is VERY good work, specially seen as a sequence, like you've posted it.

    1. Maria, I was just thinking of doing a set and zooming them out. Then popping them into a video of Giff animation.

  13. Nice set of pictures - remarkable what free-ware will do.

However, I am at a loss to find a situation worthy of giving up Pink Floyd!

    1. Stewart, The freeware is sometimes better than the big bucks stuff. Usually a bit herder to use but not always.

  14. I do like the 'floating island' shots. I watched a good video, which I've now lost, on how to do that in Photoshop.

Pleased you mentioned ICE as I had forgotten I had that. Much faster than Serif.

    1. John, the easiest way is to download Flexify 2. It isn'r supposed to be free but they haven't asked me for money...Yet! Just drop it in the plug in filters like you do for Harry's ones. Finding the correct file in Adobe is the biggest headache.
To do them in PS. Just square the image up take a mean value of the width and height and in resize just enter the numbers.
Then flip the image vertically go to Filter>Distort>Polar coordinates and it should do the job.
