OPORTUNITY. (08/02/13)

We only just arrived in Ravenglass. Six miles out a torsion bar broke in the rear suspension. I got out to investigate and said. “Well I’ll be blowed!

After much research I’ve decided to stay here while repairs are completed. This is estimated to take a month. there are much worse places to get stranded. I’ve found a company to rebuild the axles. The only problem is getting spares from Germany. It is always the same, Al-Ko the chassis builders are desperately slow…..worse than Mercedes for spare parts service.

This gives me the opportunity to admire the Red Polls, Fieldfare and Tree creepers that are currently flitting around the camper dodging the camera. An excellent job they are doing ……..I’ll get them before long.

Here are a few views of the area taken over the last few days.

_V0G4822_edited-1Dawn from the van and the last of the moon.

_V0G4834_edited-1A couple of views from my regular morning walk. It’s a grand estuary. Lots of Oystercatchers, Wigeon and a few, as yet unidentified waders. It will be good here. Just as well under the circumstances.

Have a great weekend.

  1. That's too bad about the breakdown but I can see why you're not too upset about the location. Such gorgeous scenes!

    1. Hilary, I usually stay here at least once a year so though a nuisance it is far from a disaster.

  4. You sound pretty cool about this problem. Good thing you can stay in a nice place. Some imports are a big problem with parts.

    1. German parts seem worse than most. I did have a minor Issy Fit.

  5. "Well I'll be blowed!" sounds just about right! Hmmm. Anyway the wotthehellarchiewotthehell approach is probably the best given where you've ended up. An excellent set of photos today as well. This could be a good place for us as well as for you and the pooches.

  6. 'Well I'll be blowed', haha...the words don't fit the occasion. Not a bad place to be stuck at all by the looks of it. The third shot is very good. Enjoy the forced stop.

    1. Gary....I'm sure it went something like that.
It's fine here. Those old stakes are the remains of fish traps I think.
