I was hoping for a sunny day but it never materialised. I have spent most it fabricating a differential housing out of sheet aluminium and plastic metal. It’s not pretty but hopefully it will hide all the innards and hold oil. A rock went through the old one last night so something had to be done.
I found a few insects on our first walk but only got one shot I was happy with. This is a Macro Moth. I am going to suggest a Swift Moth Hepialus sp. What ever it is it’s a little beauty but it fell off it’s perch as I twisted the grass stem to get a better view and I couldn’t find it again.
I did find a couple of Grass Bugs but still haven’t got a face on shot.
I did get a snap of a don’t know moth. This is really tiny.
I’ll see if I can find another one tomorrow and get a better shot.
That’s all for today.
The swift moth looks like it's wearing a cloak. Great photos, as usual.
ReplyDeleteMarie, it is spectacular, Moths are often more interesting than Butterflies.
DeleteLooks like you've been putting into practice all those skills learned at the Bodgeit and Legit academy of engineering..hope it all holds up?
ReplyDeleteThe Moths...
Gold Swift (Hepialis hecta) male
Orange Spot Piercer (Pammene aurana)
Nice finds...[;o)
Trevor, a real proper bodge the Avdel drain hole is the best bit of the job.

DeleteAn excellent first photo. Thought I was going to get a moth photo this a.m.. Saw it just before we went walkabout but by the time I remembered it had flown.
ReplyDeleteJohn a grand find, I've not seen another one since which is a shame.
