It is another great day with not a cloud in the sky. The overnight low was –2.6oC but now it has reached the dizzy high of 14.4oC.
On our pre-breakfast walk there looked to be plenty of water coming down the river Foyers so I decided to make the effort and climb up to see the Falls of Foyers.
Loch Ness basking in the sunshine.
This boat hut is already getting a tan or is it rust?
I had a quick breakfast then psyched myself up for the near vertical mile puff, cough and blow up to the falls. It’s a beautiful walk up the side of a very steep gorge.
The old bridge and the new one. The light was very harsh. I’ll have another go if we get some clouds before I leave.
It is a nightmare taking pictures in this light but it is much more pleasant than driving rain.
The Falls of Foyers. Things have just got a whole lot worse as I’m now shooting into the sun. It did show up the mist rising from the cataract. The Gaelic name is Eas na Smùide which means the smoking falls.
One hundred and sixty five feet of vertical drop. They are really impressive or perhaps I’m easily impressed. If I get some decent light I’ll do some video tomorrow. I took the tripod and a pack of ND graduated filters but have mislaid the 72mm adapter ring for the filter holder. I’ll have a good root around for it this afternoon. It isn’t in the cutlery draw but my toe nail clippers were.
Have fun, the weather is set to change tomorrow but it may be fine for photography.
