A PAIR OF ROOKS (07/11/09)

Came to the conclusion that if I am to preserve my sanity I'd give the birds a miss today. What did I find on my perambulation? Rooks or Castles. Just can't escape!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA     DARTMOUTH CASTLE

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA    KINGSWEAR CASTLE.......and again...........

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Like these, chocolate box quaint but still I find them attractive.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA            The estuary mouth and the English Channel or for any Francophiles out there La Manche.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA      WARFLEET..........Great names here, centre is Half Tide Rock and left is One Gun Point, somebody showed some imagination, makes up for the rather prosaic names of the castles.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA        All wrapped up for the winter, wish we were.

Today is cleaning and mending day. Tomorrow is the firework display in Kingswear and the forecast is good. I've already scouted the area and chosen my vantage point so look forward to some absolutely stunning images of the local pyrotechnics, famous last words!!

Monday we are off to Dartmoor, to have a look what's what up there.

  1. Kingswear Castle is just the loveliest! Is it far from Warfleet? They look like they belong together. I'm so enjoying my touring around with you! :)

  2. Pauline,It's about half a mile across the river, get some half decent light and I'll take the RIB down. From the land side it's not so good, been converted into flats. Dartmouth castle you can pay to look round may do that tomorrow before the fire works.

  4. I used to live on the outskirts of Brixham and went to school in Dartmouth. Every day we caught the bus to Kingswear, then the ferry across to Dartmouth, then walked up the really steep hill to the school at the top

  5. Trevor thanks, the estuary had a little bit of manipulation to highlight the water, any bird shots I get are really odd.
Kim, still the same, the children in Dartmouth appear to be educated in Brixham and visa versa. Keeps Stagecoach and the ferry in business.

  6. Excellent pictures Adrian.
That second shot of Kingswear Castle is a wall hanging picture.
Love that shot of the estuary too. I can just imagine the galleons off in the distance!

Enjoy the fireworks. Hope Molly doesn't mind them. My dog hates them.
